The Abbot Vincent Taylor Library: The College's library is an academic and research facility with over 115,000 books and bound periodicals. The monks as well as the students make use of its holdings. Special collections in the library feature Benedictine and monastic books, Carolina volumes, autographed works, incunabula, and a large number of rare and valuable books. Belmont Abbey College: The College is the principal external work of the monks. Belmont Abbey College is a liberal arts institution; it operates under the monks' sponsorship. Assisted by a lay faculty and other professionals, the monks teach in the College, and also work for the good of the students by service as administrators, priests, as sponsors of students' organizations, and by setting an example and providing an environment that promotes prayer, recollection, and Christian service. Belmont Abbey Historic District: The monastery's campus is included on the National Register of Historic Places, with the rank of a Historic District. Lourdes Grotto: The monastery's Lourdes Grotto was created in 1891. Intended to foster prayers for vocations, it was blessed as a Pilgrimage Shrine. An explanatory brochure is available upon request. The Grotto and Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes is a historical brochure on the monastery's Lourdes Grotto. Copies are available inside the entrance to the Abbey Basilica or on request. Performing Arts: Through the College, various performing groups work on campus. These include the Abbey Players (dramatics), Abbey Chorus (vocal music), and the Belmont Abbey Quintet (a classical chamber group). For information and schedules, call (704) 825-6891.
Lecture Programs: Through the Father Cuthbert Allen Visiting Fellows Program, Father John Bradley Institute for the Study of Christian Culture, and the Ecumenical Institute of Belmont Abbey College and Wake Forest University, the Abbey campus hosts distinguished lecturers in various fields throughout the year.
Abbey Athletics: Belmont Abbey College athletics is affiliated with the NCAA II, Carolinas Virginia Athletic Conference (CVAC). Twelve sports are offered: Men's & Women's Soccer, Basketball, Cross Country, and Tennis; Men's Baseball, Golf; and Women's Volleyball and Softball.
